The Protected Area of Local Interest “Parco delle Mura” (park of the city walls) covers a surface of 611.69 ha.
The Parco delle Mura has marked natural features and is the green lung of the city, located behind the old port and the old town, in a central position between the linear development of the coast and the urban extension along the Polcevera and Bisagno rivers, the historical axes between the sea and the Po valley.
It quickly reaches over 2000 ft above sea level with a 360-degree panoramic view of the city, Corsica and the Alps.
This park is very important, in that it is characterised by a strong connection between environmental and historical values, such as the 17th-century walls and the numerous 18th-19th-century fortifications.
