Luigi Garibbo

Luigi Garibbo and Genoa in the first decades of the nineteenth century

Luigi Garibbo (Genoa 1784 - Florence 1869) studied in Genoa, at the Academy of Fine Arts. He left the city already in 1825 to "try his luck" in Florence, like many other artists of the time, but still remained linked to Genoa.  Just before his death he gifted his rich collection of prints, drawings, watercolors, to the Municipality. The collection was almost completely dedicated to Genoa and dated back to the first two decades of the century. This precious documentary and artistic heritage is now preserved and available for consultation at the DocSAI Center. (Documentation Center for History, Art and Image in Genoa).
