The museum reopens to the public April 29 2021, on Thursdays and Fridays from 10 am to 6 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. with the Mythos exhibition extended through August 29.

Museo Civico di Storia Naturale G. Doria hosted, from 21st December 2019 and for the first time ever, the Mythos Exhibition, an extraordinary show of zoomorphic  creatures which last a longtime in the collettive imaginary.

Since our origin, human beings always had to face not only nature around them but also incomprehensible events. They shared their world with other creatures, animals in this case, which provided food, but were deathly and frightening enemies.

The myth was born given the need of the human species to find out the beginning of the life itself, of the creatures inhabiting the world, to understand the reality in which they lived in order to rationalise what it’s scary and unknown.

25 models realised to dive into the legend, a trip in an extraordinary world inhabited by harpies and centaurs, dragons and griffins, vampires and werewolves, mermaids and unicorns...And so much more!

Each creature displayed presents a caption, both in Italian and English, which tells their stories.
