Historic engine and heart of the city, the port is represented here through four rare views of 1865 and a photograph of the dock taken twenty years later. Sailing ships, in particular transport ships, goods, boats, dockers ... animated what could be called then (and still for many years) a real city in the city. If we compare it to the current aspect - in the age of containers, terminal and work spaces converted to services and tourism – it may appear bare and almost depopulated.
