The Cloister of San Lorenzo is nestled in the heart of the ancient city, next to the Cathedral and the Doge's Palace. It was built at the end of the 12th century for the canons of San Lorenzo who had the task of managing the Cathedral. Inside this precious marble and gray stone casket, enriched with frescoes and wooden attics, the Diocesan Museum is housed, with a collection of paintings, sculptures, fabrics and silver that come from the churches and religious bodies of the Diocese. Exceptional for value and rarity are the Passion Sheets, painted in 1538 on linen fabric dyed with indigo blue, among the "ancestors" of modern jeans (SABAP Liguria property).
