The Genoa Foundation 1893 was born on the initiative of the President of Genoa Cricket and Football Club, in a delicate phase in the history of the company, drawing inspiration and profit from contingent events, as a reaction from the Genoa community and as a guarantee for the future.
The Genoa Foundation 1893 takes care of the permanent exhibition and the collection of historical documents and materials are enhanced by the Foundation's research and dissemination activity, which encourages citizens to participate in the sporting life of the territory.
In fact, since 2011, the Museum has been part of the Federation of Football Museums, which favors the enhancement of sports culture and the promotion of its values.
Since 2019 the Museum is a member of the International Football Museum Association together with Sport Lisbon and Benfica (Portugal); Deporte Santafecino Museum, Club Atlético, River Plate and Club Atlético Boca Juniors (Argentina); Museu do Futebol, Clube de Regatas do Flamengo and Sport Club Internacional (Brazil); Museo del Grande Torino and the Granata Legend and Juventus Football Club (Italy); FC Bayern München and Eintracht Frankfurt (Germany); Arsenal Football Club (England); Real Madrid CF (Spain).
