Sculptures

Among the fine furniture decorating the room of the Gran Piano Nobile (Grand Noble Floor) of the Palazzo Reale, also sculpture certainly plays an important role. There are many pieces which are absolutely not to be missed, starting with the extraordinary series in the Galleria degli Specchi, where ancient statues dating back to the 1st century A.D., with 17th and 18th century restorations, stand next to Baroque masterpieces such as the four sculptures of the Metamorphoses by Filippo Parodi (1630-1702) and the extraordinary Rape of Proserpine recently attributed to Bernardo and Francesco Maria Schiaffino (1678-1725 / 1689-1765), as well as highly valuable 19th-century works such as the refined busts of Royals by Santo Varni (1807-1885), and the beautiful Flora by Giovanni Battista Bacigalupo (1836-1906).
