A historical work of theatrical flavour relating to the return to Spain, after his third voyage, of Columbus, who was chained up on the charge of having embezzled crown property. Exhibited at the 1865 Exhibition of the Society for the Promotion of Fine Arts in Turin and purchased by the Duke of Aosta for 1,200 lire. The painting comes from the collection of Odone di Savoia, donated to the City of Genoa by Victor Emmanuel II in 1866. Rectangular canvas with oil-painted frame
