Reptiles and amphibians

The Reptiles section includes an interesting series of osteological exhibits and numerous specimens divided into turtles, tortoises, saurian, snakes and crocodiles.

The leatherback sea turtle (Dermochelys coriacea) is the reptile with the largest  geographical distribution. It can be found in all warm and temperate waters around the world, with some Atlantic specimens even reaching the Ligurian Sea through the Strait of Gibraltar to feed on the increased numbers of jellyfish in the spring and summer months.
