Clothing accessories – shoes, bags, hats, parasols, fans, shawls and even jewellery – are often extraordinary objects, veritable miniature works of art made with precious materials and highly sophisticated techniques. In the Textile Collections, in addition to the smaller objects, which include a significant collection of fans, hats and parasols, there is also a large collection of Kashmir shawls, sumptuous, colourful cloths that ladies draped around their shoulders, originally from India but also widely produced in Europe throughout the 19th century.
